Too Drunk To Fuck

I would like to congratulate two of my favorite human beings: Jackson Publick (Christopher McCulloch) and Doc Hammer. Their brilliant masterpiece The Venture Brothers is going into its fifth season which is indeed momentous. Early on when I had to explain the Venture Brothers to friends of mine I used to be a great loss in describing it. This is because on the surface The Venture Brothers appears to be parody, but like a lot of serious fiction  what goes under the surface is far more complex than its surface appearance. I've done a lot of thing since then.... And by a lot of thinking I MEAN a lot of thinking... .the way I'd best describe the Venture Brothers is Nabokov if he was collaborating  with Jack Kirby and hanging out plastered watching bands at CBGBS. The Venture Brothers is a perfect example of satire in the Horatian mode with a subtle loving blend of character depth, genuine pathos, and a true awareness for its characters follies. I congratulate both of you, Mr. Publick and Mr. Hammer, and long may The Venture Brothers play on our television screens.
